The history of the Walmart Shareholders Meeting — NWAHomepage.com

Walmart’s annual Shareholders’ Meeting had a rough start, but eventually blossomed into the grand spectacle it is today:

Mike Smith, Walton’s financial consultant, suggested that Walton should turn Walmart’s next annual meeting into an actual event, according to Sam Walton’s posthumously published memoir, “Sam Walton: Made in America.” Walton was originally against the idea, calling it a “waste of money.” After some persuasion from Smith, Walton decided to hold the second meeting at a motel called the Coachmen’s Inn in Little Rock.
